3000cn and 3100cn Toner

Has anyone tried to use the 4000 page cyan, magenta, or yellow cartridges in the 3000cn printer.  They look exactly the same as the 3100cn.

I can't believe they don't make 4000 page output for the 3000cn other than the black cartridge.

Previous response link does not satisfy me.

Has anyone used a 4k color toner from 3100cn in the 3000cn.  I'm going to try when I run out, but would like to know for sure.

I just bought the 4k color cartridges myself.  I will let you know if it works.

If you try to install 4k color cartridge on a 3000cn you'll have a message "wrong cartdrige" so you can't print ...

Frumble, you are correct sir!  I tried it and it did not work.

I guess Dell has us by the short hairs with this printer!!!

I guess my next printer will be an HP Color Laser...

It works.  However, since I changed it to non-dell, the toner level indicator no longer works.  So the question is how do you know when the toner is getting low before it runs out?

It's a gamble...

Nykerk,

Have you experimented with the non-dell toner setting, could this make the 4k work!

Setting is shown under:   printer settings, printer setting reports, menu settings, then scroll down, by default it is set to off!

It can be changed using the menu on the printer.
Menu
configure
maintenance
non-dell toner

Please get back to me, and good luck

Don't see how.  You just run out of toner...

Maybe when you get less than 50% you can turn the dell toner back on and the level indicator wil work?

I think I'll just buy the 4k toner and keep an extra on hand for when it runs out!

Do you think it is possible to damage the machine if you run it out?
