5100cn prints blank pages, no error codes
My 5100cn printer needed a fuser replaced, so I did that but now it prints blank pages. There are no error codes at the printer. If I look closely when printing reports from the control panel, I see faint printing on the page.

Very interesting......
What was wrong that the fuser needed replacement?
Was it something that prevented machine operation?
If possible, can you put the original fuser back in the machine and let us know what the print looks like?

Sorry for the delay; was out of the office.
The printer control panel had a message - replace fuser kit.
We ordered the 5100 kit, recvd the 5110 kit. Ordered a 5100 again, got the correct one and installed that.
I will double check the model of the fuser installed now. We don't have the old fuser any more but I have an identical printer I can swap fusers with.
Also I've learned when the new fuser was put it, it did print correctly for a few pages -- then starting printing the blank pages.
Thanks very much for your help-

Okay I swapped fusers. The new fuser works fine in the "working" printer. The dead printer printed out a few pages with some red text (only) and then went to blank pages again. Trying the reports from the printer menu also prints blank pages.
Hope you can help!

Are any error messages displayed on the front panel at all?
And if I read your last reply correctly, the printer settings report is also faint/blank? (if faint, is it still black?)
I'd like you to try something and tell me what you see:
1. using the front right (square) latch, open the entire front of the printer
2. press the blue button to open the drum unit cover
3. remove the drum unit and set aside. the area behind the drum is the developer frame and holds a developer assy for each color
4. slowly close/open (exercise) the drum unit cover as you watch the interior face (the colored rollers) on the developer frame.
Does the entire developer frame move the same distance forward (as you close the cover) and the same distance rearward (as you open the cover)?

Sorry I didn't reply back. The printer magically starting printing again. I'm serious! I swapped fusers, and it was not working. A few days later someone turned it on again and now it is working.
Just wanted to say thanks for the help. There are not many resources for these printers and this forum has lots of info.
Thank you!

If you coudl get some pictures of the area you're referring too, I can probably make a better determination of the paroblem and parts you may need
.
You'll need a website on the internet to host the pictures from. If you don't have one, www.Flickr.com is one that works great, among others.
fyi...... max image width allowed in this forum is 460 pixels.
OBTW..... when you post an image to FLICKR, just right-click in the center of the picture then copy/paste the URL info and include that in your reply.

Printer stopped working again.
I checked your last message. The reports print very faint black. Actually I printed the PCL Fonts List which has the color bars at the top. The color bars printed fine. The black bar is grey, and the font list below goes from dark grey to very faint, and as the pages continue the text gets lighter and lighter.
When watching the developer frame move, it appears to move the same distance, however it doesn't move easily. Also I noticed the white wheels the turn the rollers have bits of white plastic around them -- like they aren't engaging properly. This could very well be the sound I hear when a doc starts printing -- a grinding noise.
Is there a way I can print a report in just color to see if that works properly?
And if there is a problem with the developer frame unit -- what can be done?
Thanks in advance for your help!

pfmary,
I'd love to help you, but you need to help me understand the problem a little better so I can help you.
Can you scroll to my last reply to you?
