922 printer - All in One Software won't install

Hi.  I just bought a new Dell and thus updated from XP to Vista home premium 64bit.

I bought a Dell 922 all in one printer with my last computer.  The printer will print and copy, but the scan option does not work and the All-in-One software will not load.  I've used the removal tool from the website and installed the "correct" update, but the software will not install.  I don't get an error message.

Does the Dell all-in-one software not work with 64bit Vista?

Thanks for your help.

I do NOT see any Vista 64-bit drivers offered for this printer.

Yeah.  Thanks for confirming what I was thinking.

The shame is the 922 did what I needed it to do.  Oh well.

Thanks for your help.

When I try to reinstall (using my CD) my Dell AIO Printer 922 it says that there is not enough disk space on the target drive.  I have more than enough room on any of my hard drives.   I've tried to install the printer using the hardware installer and going through the internet, but you finally come to the point that it wants the CD and and then I'm up against a wall.   Can you help me?

birinehart,

Follow these instructions exactly and tell me the results.

Please follow the instructions below and the printer should install for you. Please make sure you have all Windows Updates, especially .net framework(needed to run many applications) and the latest Java.

Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch (a MUST with Vista machines, I would also run with XP) to completely remove the printer from your computer. Run the patch until it prompts you to restart your computer.

Restart your computer.

Download the proper drivers

XP Drivers

Vista 32-bit Drivers

Vista 64-bit Drivers

All other drivers

Install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect your printer(powered on) Please use a 4ft USB Cable or less.

Scanning

Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.

Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

The problem is that the patch sends its files to be unzipped to my (c:) drive which is not big enough.  The other disk drives have more than ample room.  When I tell the program to unzip it is going so fast I cannot tell it to go to be "D" or "G" file.  Then I get an error message telling me to clear off more space in the "C" drive, but there will never be enough room in that disk.  I've even tried to re-name the "C" drive but that doesn't work either.

Try creating a Folder on the Drive where you want it to go, then goto the Dell download section and download one at a time to your Folder.

However, if your C drive hasnt enough space to store the zipped files, it wont have room for the un-zipped files, will it?
