922 printer scan button fails to initiate a scan
My Dimension 4600 (XP) and 922 AOI printer have worked fine until recently, when the scan button stopped working. I would like to find what started interfering with that function so I don't do it again. Having seen related messages, I doubt it is the switch. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the original driver (my CD), with no help.
I can still initiate a scan by going through the printer->scanner->wizard menus but it does not show up in the fax preview.
I do not see the All-In-One Center screen anymore, either from the scan button or the All Programs->922 printer menus. That tells me I am
My OCR folder has an Abbyy file (not folder) but no setup.exe file.
Thanks for any help on what went wrong and how to get it back to original.

woodrt,
You said this recently happened. I'm thinking it was Microsoft Update Tuesday. Maybe there was an update for the printer that caused this. First thing to try is using system restore and go back before the Windows updates.
Let me know what happens.

Rick,
I wasn't able to determine whether the last update had a printer update in it, so, adhering to the oath, "first do no harm", I opted to try again for the Dell patch and reinstall of the standard XP driver you had in an earlier post. After picking the right version and getting it unzipped somehow, it was an easy and straightforward update. I still do not know what initiated the problem and I am curious whether there was anything in the Dell update different from my original driver disc. (Just not so much to do it all over again with that disc!)
Thanks for the good advice.

woodrt,
Some people allow Microsoft to update their drivers. I have seen many times, that the drivers are the wrong drivers and/or the drivers do not get installed correctly, causing many devices to fail.
I have all the computers in my home set to notify about Windows Updates and then we select what we want to update.
Gald you get everything working. Thanks for posting back.
Take care,
Rick
