946 will not print, but scans (printer cannot "communicate" at all)
I'm running Windows XP on a Dimension 3000, and the AIO 946 All-in-one worked when I first got it, but I hadn't used it in awhile. When I try to print anything, it says:
I've done all those things, and the "check firewall" is actually a new option listed after having tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers (tried two different drivers for 946, neither was fixing it)
The thing is, it still acknowledges when I plug/unplug the usb, what kind of device it is... it even scans still but will not for the life of me
PRINT, not even jibberish. Nothing at all, no commincation. I've even tried disabling McAfee's firewall completely, still doesn't work (and the scanning worked with it on) Even tried using another USB port.

Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch. It will completely remove the printer from your computer. Restart your computer.
Now go to the device manager. Right click, my computer, left click on properties, left click hardware, left click device manager.
Go down to USB Controllers and click on the + sign.
Starting st the bottom, USB Root Hub, and working your way to the top, USB Universal Host Controller, un-install everything in the USB section.
Restart your computer. Windows will find everything again and correct your USB Problem, if you had one.
Download and install the XP 946 printer drivers from here.
Install the drivers, you'll be prompted when to connect your printer.
