A940, blue and red color problem

Not necessarily. My 922 prints light colors on the alignment page, but prints perfect color charts and photos. How does your color printing look on a printed psge or color photo? If it always prints light or has missing colors or streaked colors then the ink cartridge print head needs to be cleaned, but not with the menu. Removed the color cart and soak bottom (print head) in 1/2 inch of hot water for 15 to 30 minutes. Blot with clean paper towel (which should then show ink). Re-install and try.

The two colors don't show up at all, that's why I ran the diagnostics. All my color prints come out in red and yellow with some fuzzy lines running through them.

The only problem that I can think of is defective cartridge. What other kinds of problems could I expect?

I suspect the ink cartridge print head nozzles are clogged with dried ink. The cleaning menu will not unclogg them. Try the hot water cleaning.

Do you mean just wipe the metal part with cloth soaked in hot water?

Sorry I didn't read your message through. It's soaking now. I just hope that I inserted the correct end in the water. When I first put it in the water there was a burst of ink but now nothing is happening, I'll wait and see if this fixes the problem. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you for your suggestion. I did what you said, the problem didn’t get fixed but it changed. Now everything comes out in pale pink color. That makes me think that the cartridge is either too old or has some other defect and is beyond fixing.

I don’t know what technology is used to create the colors, but the symptoms are like it’s run out of color ink; way before the ink level indicator reached even the midpoint.
