A948 Printer Issue with Vista Home
Have an issue with printing to a Dell 948 printer. I have the following setup:
Dell 948 on wireless network
XPS desktop - vista home(wired)
Laptop vista home (wireless)
Printer seems to be working fine. Can print to it over wireless network from laptop. The xps system does NOT print. Windows shows that it printed (shows document in que, then disapears)
After a reboot, sometimes the document will print just before shutdown.
I have uninstalled the printer several times, then reinstalled. No error messages or anything.
Attempted to change the setting that says "print documents directly to printer" thinking it was a spooler problem. It will not let me change this or anyother setting.
Any clues?

Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer.
Restart your computer.
Download the proper drivers.
XP Drivers
Vista 32-bit Drivers
All other drivers
Recommended wireless router settings to get everything to communicate correctly.
Update the firmware in your wireless router. Manufacturer's website, make & Model needed.
Broadcast SSID(You may want to change this to make it easier to connect)
Use WPA Security. Most wireless devices work best with this type of security.
Mixed b and g mode(n if available)
Use channels 1, 6 or 11. Most devices work better on these channels.
Save and exit. Power everything off for 30 seconds. Power everything back on, wait 30 seconds, now try to connect.

You first changed your wireless router to the recommended settings.
You followed these instructions for setting up the printer.

Choose your printer. Beneath your printer, select your operating system. You'll be redirected to another page. Then click on show all steps. It will walk you through the installation process.
If you did this, then I would recommend, since this was an upgraded operating system, to put the Vista disk in the computer.
Start, run or hit the Windows Key and the R key at the same time.
type
sfc /scannow (space between the c and /)
hit enter and it will make sure the operating system is in origional form. When it's done, restart your computer. Make sure you have all the Windows Updates, custom ones, also. You'll need net framework to run some programs. Also make sure you have the latest Java.
Now try installing the printer.
