A960 Fax Receiving Issues

I have 2 A960 printers that were purchased at the same time. The printers work fine when it comes to printing, scanning, and faxing out. The issues that we have are with receiving faxes. We have had calls from several customers at this point that they are unable to fax us anything. Both A960s are on seperate lines. Additionally, the cabling is new as well as the telephone lines themselves. If we put our older fax machines in place, our customers are able to fax us.

Is there anything that I can do to correct these issues?

I am having the same issues and have contacted Dell on NUMEROUS occasions, and keep getting the very same answers.  I've even returned one A960 printer hoping another would not have the same issues.  I've attached and re-attached cables as indicated by Dell.  My dilemma is when I set the fax to receive a fax "when fax tone heard".  My situation is:  I utilize the local phone company's voice mail service.  I have one phone line.  I've purchased a splitter which everyone seems to think would resolve the issue.  By the way, I had two lines when I first received the printer, but experienced the same problems I'm having now.  When I set the fax receipt for after a specific number of rings, it works.  But, I need the "when fax tone heard" so that my callers who'd like to leave a message can do so.  Unbelievable.

Do let me know if you find a resolution.  I feel your pain!

I also have a A960, and love every function, except the incoming fax.  I have one phone line, and my phone is hooked up through the fax machine.  Outgoing faxes work great, but my problem is with incoming faxes.  I have the machine set to take a fax on manual select.  When the phone rings, and we hear fax tones, we just press #.  The problem is when we receive a normal phone call and we talk for about 2 to 3 minutes, the fax machine automatically picks up and tries to recieve a fax.  This is troublesome, because our call gets cut off.  We do have call waiting, and I wonder if this may be the problem.

Good Morning!  I recall reading in some of the Knowledgebase information that you do need to disengage Call Waiting.  If I am able to locate that info again, I'll send it to you.  My need is the ability to receive faxes when I am not in my home office.  I'm with you on sending faxes.  It rocks!  Receiving is a royal disappointment and getting no reliable answer from Dell is even more so.

Most of the people I talk to say the best way to receive faxes is to buy an answering machine.  Hook the machine up through the fax and then your phone to the answering machine.  Set the fax to pick up on fax tones, and it works really good.  The only problem is, that it has to be an answering machine, not voice mail.

Good Morning!  Thanks for taking the time to share the tip.  It appears the answering machine is the way to go.  I can't beleive how "doubting" the A960 has made me.  I do hope the interrrupted calls I've read about do not occur even with adding an answering machine.  Hmmm.  Off to the electronics department I shall go.  Have a great day!

Unfortunately, the phone call interruptions DO occur on the A920 when an answer machine is connected.  In fact, Dell Technical Support told me that my answer machine and/or phone was incompatible with the printer.

I to have been having problems receiving my faxes.  I just received my printer today and it doesnt work.  I am having the problem of when the printer is set to manual receive of faxes the printer disconnects my received voice calls after a few minutes of talking to the person.

My question is many of you said that you are putting answering machines on the line and the faxes come through ok but how are you answering the faxes and or calls when you are in your offices or homes?  Are you letting the answering machines answer all your incoming phone calls and faxes or are you doing something else when you are in the office?  It seems that the answering machine would be great when you are out of the office/home but I would like some suggestions on how to handle the calls/faxes when I am in as well.

Thanks for your help in advance!
