A960 will not dial to send FAX

I have dial up and have installed my printer properly. A line to the phone jack and a USB cable from computer to printer.  I have windows XP and got this printer with my new Dimension  dell computer so you would think it would work.  The first few times I faxed something I used the printer keyboard to dial.  While the tones that dialed seemed strange it did work.  Now I can't get it to dial. no dial tone and while it looks like it is dialing nothing is happening.  I am wondering if I have a defective printer.  One of the reasons I wanted this printer was so that I could fax from the printer keypad and for some reason it isn't working any more.  Any suggestions? Anyone else have this problem?

I am having the same problem with my new A960. When new it dialed fine and I have only sent about 10 faxes. After about 2 weeks it will not dial. It states that it is dialing, but you cant hear it, and it then posts a message that there is no dial tone. The phone line is fine. The phone company verified the line is fine. It also will not receive a fax. I think it is a bad modem. Have you or anyone out there found any information regarding this problem.  Thanks
