Hi,

Hopefully someone can help me coz this has driven me mad so far!

I've just bought a new laptop with vista and when I tried to install my AIO 924 printer on it basically nothing seems to have worked except the link for ordering supplies! How can I fix this??

Thanks,
Happy Christmas
Bronagh

Forgot to add that I have the CD with the drivers etc I just need to know how I should go about installing it properly!

If the drivers are not for Vista, you will have to download them before installing.  Also, NEVER connect the unit to the PC first or the install will fail or Windows (Vista) will install incorrect drivers.

HERE is the Dell downloads for the 924 and Vista.

Install the drivers and ONLY connect the unit to the PC when the drivers tell you.  Best to use the System Restore function and restore the unit to a date Prior to first attempting to instlal the drivers and start over.  System Restore can be accessed under Accessories/System Tools.

  I have to reinstall my Dell printer drivers 924 every time I run low on ink and don't reorder from Dell. It just QUITS and the drivers are gone. Open up the printer folder and there's a Microsoft printer displaying!

I order ink from Staples.com   Why does that happen with the drivers? Poof!

   The cartridges are so teeny-weeny you only get maybe 50 copies out of each one if you're lucky, anyway! It's pathetic when you have to save the 924 Dell Printer Drivers in your 'My Favorites' websites..like gazing at the drivers downloading was some big thrill.

   Also, the BIG pop up messages on this 924 will annoy you to death! 5 days after you replace your

cartridges it will start nagging you and showing false readings that you have only a certain amount of

ink left. Here's a tip, Keep printing! The first 2 copies will come out blank and ALL of a SUDDEN, the 924 ALL IN ONE INK MIRACLE GOD will produce more ink and the printer will put out another 50 copies! Hallelujah!

      Don't buy this printer, unless you want a little more misery... to add to your VISTA. ~

I don't know if this is the right place to be and if not please send me somewhere else. My granddaughter has a new laptop which came with Vista. She now has a virus (I think....antivirus 2009). I cannot get it off with her antivirus and attempted to install a new one. I think that I might be able to remove it manually if I could find the search for files menu that I have with XP. Can you or someone tell me where to find this on Vista? Thanks for any help.

Thanks for helping me. I connect to the internet but cannot bring a page up. It just sits there and only half loads. That is why I thought I might be able to manually delete the files if I could find where to go to get the search file menu. On my XP I go to start and then search. I can't find it on Vista.

This is really not the correct place to post. There is a Virus/Spyware Forum but I'll help you, since I'm familar with the virus you have.

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

* Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
* Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
* When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
* When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
* - Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* - Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* Then click Finish.
* MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
* If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.

* On the Scanner tab:
* - Make sure the "Perform Quick Acan" option is selected.
* - Then click on the Scan button.
* The next screen will ask you to select the drives to scan. Leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
* The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
* When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
* Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
* Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
* The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

* -- Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

**If you encounter this message:"c:\program files\malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll Unable to register the dll/ocx: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5" Click on ignore mbamext.dll

Download Malwarebyter AntiSpyware.

Update Malwarebytes AntiSpyware and have it scan your computer.

It will remove the infection your computer has.

Restart your computer after removal.

I can't download a page to (i.e... Google, msn) in order to download anything. I am connected but I have been trying to open my browser for approximately 30 minutes. Do you know of a way I can see the files on the computer? If I could find them I might be able to delete the infected folders. At least long enough to download the site you need me to go to. Is this something that sounds reasonable? I have never had this problem on our other computers.

Try posting in the Virus/Spyware Forum. They are better equipped to handle this. How are you gettinh here to post? If on a friends computer, download the Malwarebytes to their computer and put them on a disk or flash drive.

Hello, I have a laptop and desktop. The problem is on my granddaughters laptop. Less than a year old. That is a good idea about saving it to a disc. Thank you for your help. Dana
