AIO 926 Windows 8 Drivers
Hello everybody,
I was wondering if anyone was aware of a timeline or deadline for the introduction of Windows 8 drivers for the Dell AIO 926 Photo Printer. Using a Windows RT tablet, I have exhausted just about all of the alternative methods utilizing Windows 7 drivers and the like and have had no success. If anyone could provide a more effective alternative specifically for use with a Windows 8 tablet or if anyone from Dell browsing these forums could give me even a preliminary estimate regarding when these drivers will be produced, it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for ANY advice that you could provide, even if it is to go out and buy a new Dell printer or even a printer from another manufacturer, as time is of the essence in this matter.
-Dr. Nick

Dr, Nick,
To the best of my knowledge, Window 8 id not supported for this printer. You can try this, it may or may not work...
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.
Disconnect the printer.
Download and run the patch(printer cleanup utility) until it prompts you to restart your computer.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 8 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 8 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).
Links to the patch/drivers can be found at...

Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications. If no virus program was installed, then Windows Defender is the default virus program. Try reading, Allow Printer past Microsoft Essentials/Windows Defender

They never released a working Windows 7 driver for this printer so I wouldn't hold my breath for a Windows 8 version.
I'd suggest looking through the recommendations over at Tom's Hardware when choosing a new printer.

eflan,
Did you try the above procedure? Some members are still getting their printers to work using the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode

I'm not the original poster, but I followed the instructions and I was able to get my Dell photo 926 printer working with Windows 8. Thanks for the help.

I was having similar problems getting my Dell 926 printer to communicate with my Windows 8 laptop. I followed the instructions above and made sure I had the drivers for 64-bit Vista (my laptop is running 64-bit Windows 8), and everything installed with no problem whatsoever.
I purchased the Windows 8 laptop in November, 2012, and purchased a HP printer that was compatible after I was unable to install drivers for the Dell 926. I have had nothing but trouble with the HP printer, and am glad I have the old Dell 926 as a backup. I wish I had seen this earlier, because I would have saved some money in not purchasing the HP printer.
Thanks for posting this information.
