alarm

I have recently purchased a Dell 1700n laser printer.  Each time a file is printed a short alarm sounds and occasionally a very long alarm sounds.  This noise can be very annoying to people sitting in the vicinity of the printer.  I can find no documentation on how to turn this off and no reason for the alarm to sound assuming it is supposed to be a warning of a problem.  The printer is new, the toner cartridge is new and the paper tray is full.  Any suggestions??

When it provides the alarm, do the lights blink or get solid? If yes, which ones? Could you describe it please?

The ONLY light that is on is the ready/data light. This light blinks during the alarm.

So, from time to time it suddenly starts blinking and printing nothing?
Could you go to IP of the printer in your webbrowser, get into PS menu and set "Print PS error" to ON? And if it will print something instead of just blinking, could you post this error here?
