alignment page
When I power-on my Dell Photo 966 it always prints an alignment page. This uses a heck of a lot of ink. The only way to stop
it doing this is to repeatedly and wildly stab at the Stop button. How can I disable this annoying, but lucrative for Dell, 'feature'?

bobcat61,
First this to do is run Delete Print Jobs on your computer.
Are you using Dell Series 7 ink cartridges?
Unplug the printer from the wall. Also remove the power brick for 60 seconds. This will reset any error messages you get from the printer. Plug everything back in and power on the printer. Take out the Dell Series 7 black cartridge and reseat it. Put it back in and do the same for the Dell Series 7 color cartridge. When you close the printer it should try to print an alignment page. Any error messages?
It's possible the sensor went bad in the ink cartridge. Take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement.
Dell Series 7 ink cartridges have a sensor in them that cannot be reset. Article on refilling Dell ink cartridges.
Dell Series 7 ink cartridges can be purchased at Staples, Walmart or Dell's Website.
