Comparing quality across Dell printers

I'm considering purchasing a Dell printer, with the two I have in mind being the 2145cn and the 3130cn. The 2145cn offers the versatility of a number of features, and the 3130cn offers the benefit of more speed. But what matters to me most is the quality of the print. Where can I find details on the difference between the print quality of the two machines (and I'm looking for more than "its 600x600" please). Do the two printers have the same internal "engine" or are there critical quality differences between the two? Would love to hear thoughts from anyone who knows about these two machines.

Have you been here? You can click the product details for each then click the Tech Specs tab for each.

I can tell you that the engines in each are not the same. Service wise, I've worked on both. The 3130cn is a little less complex and easier to work on, but both seem to perform very well. If you need the Multi-Function capabilties (Fax, Scan, Copy, Print), the 2145cn is a good buy. You also get duplex printing and copying standard, but the duplex unit is optional on the 3130cn.

I probably can't answer that question fairly. I worked on each, but in separate locations.... and haven't had the opportunity to compare prints from each side-by-side.

Thanks llynster. I guess what I'm getting at is, like for like, which one produces the best quality print. Forgetting all the other differences, if you put two identicle print outs from the different machines side by side, will there be a discernable quality difference between the two and why?
