Connecting a Dell computer to an HP Printer
I have a Dell Vostro 200 with an XP operating system. I am trying to connect to a wireless HP Officejet Pro L7780 All-in-One. My computer is wireless and I have a Linksys router. I am unable to re-install my software after I had removed it because I was having printer issues of stopping in the middle of a print or not printing at all. I was on Chat with HP and they also told me to remove the software and re-install without any success. Now my New Hardware Wizard keeps coming up with "The specified port is unknown". HP says it is Dell's problem since they don't communicate well with HP All-in-One printers. According to HP, Dell supposedly has different ports and BIOS issues. Can anyone help?

I'm sorry, I forgot to mention about the wireless part. My error.
Update the firmware in your wireless router. Manufacturer's website, make & Model needed.
Broadcast SSID(You may want to change this to make it easier to connect)
Use WPA security
Mixed b and g mode(n if available)
Use channels 1, 6 or 11. Most devices work better on these channels.
Now when you go to install your printer, choose network. Then follow the instructions.

Try installing it this way. Then tell us what you get.
Disconnect your printer. Go to start/programs/HP printers and un-install your printer. Now go to the control panel and make sure your printer is un-installed.
Restart your computer.
Now go to here download drivers and utilities.
Install your printer. You'll be prompted when to connect it.
