Dell 1235cn Firmware Update

I am having the same issue. Anyone have any thoughts other than spending money?

I have also this problem. According to Dell support it is because I didnt download firmware Dell1235cn_v1.70.01.14_EC7.hd before I downloaded firmware DELL1235CN_A05_v1.70.01.15.hd I was told to update via USB memory stick but I have not gotten it to work. According to Dell support the Printer is now not longer working and I need to buy a new one.

If you find the soultion pls mail it to me!

I had the same problem:

Printer just clicked and panel indicated warming up. Tried all the USB stick thing and it wasn't reading it.

Search for usbprns2.exe in google, I ended up downloading it from some foreign site. Place it on your desktop along with your firmware file xxxxx.hd

Connect the printer to your computer through the USB in the back panel.

Switch printer off wait a few secs then back on.

Press stop button - panel indicates download manager

Press stop again and "await image" appears.

On computer drag the xxxx.hd firmware file onto the usbprns2.exe.

The panel should indicate deleting addresses, then after loading addresses.

Printer reboots on its own and voila  - working printer!

I got this as far as the last step...it appears to do the stuff on the panel, but never reboots, and it's back on the "warming up" thing...???

OK...LOL...now it goes as far as rebooting itself, but right after that, it goes back to "warming up...please wait" mode...maybe if I keep doing this it'll eventually work?

Finally! What finally worked was going back to the earliest firmware release I could find and using the above instructions, after completely uninstalling everything from my machine and completely starting fresh. Worked like a charm. Thanks!

Yes I should have said in my instructions use A04 to update and then update again with A05 version.

I did all of this, except it never says deleting addresses or loading addresses, it just says receiving and tells me a bunch of numbers on the screen then it says image error reset printer

Oh man  -- thanks to everyone above.  The yahoos at tech support had me ready to spend another $300 on a brand new printer.  After getting the fatal "Warming up...please wait" clicking sound I did the usbprns2.exe trick and went back to A03.  Then went up to A04, then A05.  I also completely uninstalled the printer and all software, then reinstalled from CD.  I mainly did the last part because of a "Unavailable" message when trying to scan to PC, which is what started this whole mess.  Now everything is A-ok, but what a fiasco!   You would think support would know about this and offer more than "buy a new printer."   What a rip-off!

This was very valuable insight and I'm hoping you can help me over the next hump.  I've completed the process you described and get Image Error Reset Printer displayed on the screen.  Any thoughts as to what I might have missed or what next steps are required?

Make sure to start out with the first firmware of A01 and work your way up.

I ran the usbprns2.exe "Place it on your desktop along with your firmware file xxxxx.hd to remove the  DELL1235CN_A05_v1.70.01.15.hd version as I also installed this before the Dell1235cn_v1.70.01.14_EC7.hd. However now I cannot seem to figure out how to get the option to install Dell1235cn_v1.70.01.14_EC7.hd before going to the next DELL1235CN_A05_v1.70.01.15.hd. It just loads up while connected via the USB says reset image.

Because I have lost the instalation disk and updating to version A04 recommended on the site of DELL,

I get the message of  "warming up  please wait"
