Dell 1700n, Mac OS X and wireless printing?
Hi guys,
I have the 1700n printer connected to a 4 port ADSL wireless modem & router. My normal WinXP desktop is a wired connection and can print fine to it after installing it with the driver-cd provided.
I have recently bought a new Apple Macbook with Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger.
I'm trying to set it up to print wirelessly to the 1700n. Does anyone know how I can do this? I realise I will need to install the Lexmark 322n (is that correct?) printer drivers.
But how would I go about setting it up to print wirelessly? Can anyone step through it with me please?
My LAN IP is 192.168.1.254
My WinXP Desktop is 192.168.1.50
The 1700n is at 192.1.68.1.159
And my Macbook is set to 192.168.1.56.
If anyone can help, that would be great. Give it a go myself, but the Macbook doesn't seem to want to print wirelessly. I haven't tried it through a wired connection though.

Set up the printer in Printer Utility in OS X as an LPD port using the IP address you specified below.
Set it to use the Lexmark 322N driver and VOILA it should work fine.
Your ADSL wireless router acts as the bridge between:
1. Wireless PowerBook
2. Dell Printer

I tried doing that ...
1. Checked my printer IP (it was 192.168.1.53 - typing that into my browser brought me to the Dell 1700n printer setup menu).
2. Went to Printer Setup Utility, then clicked on "IP Printer" tab/button.
3. Protocol selected Line Printer Daemon - LDP
4. Address selected as 192.168.1.53
5. Queue - left blank.
6. Selected "Print Using:" and chose the Lexmark 332n option.
I then saved it, and tried printing a page wirelessly in Pages as a test. But it came up with an error straight away saying that the host was busy, or unreachable and it would try again in 30 seconds.... :(
