DELL 2330DN Windows 10 incompatibility???

I have used a Dell 2330DN printer connected by USB to several Windows 7 and Vista PC's for the last 3 years. I recently purchased two Windows 10's computers - one a Lenovo laptop (upgraded from Windows 8) and another from a UK company, with Windows 10 installed from scratch.

I downloaded the latest Dell printer driver file (for the Dell 2330) from the Dell Support site "Dell_2330_2350_ACH_Admin.exe", ran it and on both computers and it installed a printer icon for the 2330 (in Devices and Settings) - but would not connect to the printer. When I clicked on "Troubleshoot" on the printer icon, it reported:

“USB Printing Support is an older USB device and might not work with USB 3.0

Plug the device into an available USB 2.0 port, and click Next. Otherwise, click Cancel”

However, in both cases the printer was plugged into the USB 2 port/s on both computers and not the USB 3 ports.

Also the printer icon's properties shows the printer location as "USB Printing Support", which itself indicates a Microsoft driver with a 6/21/2006  date - which can't be a proper Windows 10 driver (as it's far too old). I can used the same USB 2 ports for connecting to USB memory sticks and a CANON inkjet, so there is no issue with the ports. In device manager there are no devices with errors or exclamation marks on either computer, so all other devices and USB ports appear to be working correctly. I have de-installed the dell printer drivers and re-installed them to no avail.  I think the USB printing support driver dated 2006, may be the culprit.

Can anyone help or is the Dell 2330 not really Windows 10 compatible?

Actually the Dell Support site does claim Win10 support. Was the file you downloaded.....

Dell_2330_2350_ACH_Admin.exe?

I would delete the printer/driver you installed. Then plug in the printer via USB. You should get a plug and play event. Then allow windows 10 to download the Microsoft native driver for it.

I may have a similar problem and need guidance. My 2330dn worked fine with Windows 8.1 but now I cannot get the driver to install under Windows 10, even though the my laptop does recognize the printer. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers several times. I have removed the device from the Control Panel to trigger the driver installation, as suggested in one place, but this has done nothing.

Also, connecting to the printer (through the usb drive) is throwing off the internet within a few minutes, and I get a message about conflicting channels.
