Dell 305V printer and 924PLC32

E510 COMPUTER

i recently had to uninstall then reinstall the Windows Operating System.

After getting the Printer working again. I noticed that I had an application: 924PLC32 in Add Remove. I noticed this soon after I got the printer working.

Before I uninstalled the operating system I had the 924PLC32 in Add Remove. Previously I thought it was related to a Dell program, Fast At Last or something in my programs named Ascertive. I thought it was sypware and was really glad to get rid of it upon reinstall (This was before I got the printer up and working) I believe I read somewhere on the Internet that this application has to do with the Dell printer. Please clarify. Thanks.

A couple of things.When you reinstalled the operating system, did you install the desktop/notebook utility and the chipset drivers first? If not,the rest of the drivers will fail to install.How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order

Did youm own a Dell 924 Printer?

At one time I did have a Dell 924 printer then I got a 305 V. Some time after that I noticed 924PLC32 in the Add/Remove list. (I do not

know if it was in the list when I had the 924 printer).

When I noticed it, I thought it was somehow related to a program: fast at last or Ascentive which I thought was spyware.

I tried to uninstall it but could not.

Recently I had to reinstall the Windows operating System.

After the reinstall 924PLC32was not in the Add/Remove list. After this I realized I had to reinstall the 305V printer and

soon after this I noticed that the 924PLC32 was back in the add remove list.

I would appreciate a response from an msp. Thanks.

Did you install the desktop/mnotebook utility and the chipset drivers first?

Was the printer disconnected? If not, you'll have to disconnect the printer. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Restart your computer.

With your computer online, get out the Dell Printer disk and imnstall the printer. You should get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer when prompted.

Thank you for your post.  I'm not sure exactly what I did and did not do.  After reinstalling Windows XP I just remember having to insert the 305V CD at some point.  At any rate, I now know the 924PLC32. is connected with the printer and not spyware.  I had a Dell software tech working on my computer and he told me I could just leave the 924PLC32 in Add Remove.  Note Add Remove also lists the 305V.  I would like to hear if you have any further comment on this action instead of what you suggested.  I'm not exactly sure how to go about what you suggested - Do I just insert the 305 v CD?

Sallie,   Yes, try inserting the CD and see if the printer installs. I have seen USB Port issues with the E510 models.     Rick
