dell 5100cn driver "The specified color profile is invalid"

Hello all,

a couple weeks ago I installed 10 ea of Dell 5100cn Color Lasers on our network.

I try to do a driver update on our printservers. Which fails with the subject error message.

The print servers are windows 2003 servers.

Google just returned a list of error codes but no fixes or hints.

I would appreciate any hint or troubleshooting tips.

Thanks

I am also trying to update the drivers for our 5100cn. However the message I got simply stated that a file could not be installed - specifically the color profile file. We are also running on WIndows 2003 Server.

I know that this is an old post, but I recently encountered the same problem on a Dell 5110cn and did not find the problem or solution posted elsewhere.  I thought I would post here for reference.

This error is caused by the color profile being specified in the driver configuration pages and being in use by network users when you try to apply the update.

I resolved this by using the Computer Management MMC -> System Tools -> Shared Folders -> Open Files to close the open file %windir%\system32\spool\drivers\color\dlxzizip.icm

After I closed the file I was able to install the updated driver.

I hope that this helps someone else.
