Dell 922 AIO Scanner cover is open

No matter how many times I open and close the cover it still tells me my cover is open and will not let me print. It will not let me turn it off with the power button. I have unplugged and re-installed with no results.

Thank you William.
I just found it and there is a part that has broken off and fallen into the printer. I am going in!!!

There is a micro switch hidden under the cover that is operated by a little plastic tip that is attached to the lid. The little plastic tip may be broken off or the micro switch is not in place so the tip doesn't push down the switch telling the printer that the cover is closed.

Well, I got the part that broke off (the lever that depresses the switch) to fall out of the printer when I turned it upside down, but I haven't figured out how to get into the printer. Is there a manual somewhere that shows how to dis-assemble this printer? I am going to try to get the switch to stay depressed if I can. I can reach in there and press the switch with a screwdriver.

I would try to glue the piece back on using epoxy for plastic avaiable at Walmart for about $3.00.

Thank you William,
Sorry I am just now getting back to you.  The piece that broke off is not the part that is attached to the scanner cover , it is the lever that is down in the printer that that piece presses and makes it rotate down to press the micro-switch. I haven't figured out how to get the printer apart so I can get to the switch: I'm going to see if I can make the switch stay depressed so it will always read closed.

Hey I'm having the same problem but I can't find the plastic tip that would activate the micro chip.  Where is it located????...it doesn't look like anything has broken off.

Hi,
I have the same problem with my AIO 922 Printer.  A wee quick question....where is the microswitch located?  Under the scanner screen or is it under where the printer cartridges are located?
