Dell AIO 922 All In One Center Problem

My All in One Center won't come up for the first run. The square that reads "Preparing applications for first run" will stay on for hours.. Belive me I tried.  I removed the printer and reinstalled several times. Nothing works...

A little extra info: It still prints... and Copies.. Becuase you don't have to open the All in One Center with those. It just will not open the All In One Center. I don't know if it is a setting becuase It works on my other computer.. but that doesn't help me there. I need it on here and I dont' know why it won't work.
Help?

once you have reinstalled the driver for the printer and youre still getting stuck on the pre AIO center screen, try to restart your system(by clicking the start),and then click on end now button in case there will be any notifications that theres a program that is not responding, after reboot, try to open the AIO center again, you should be able to open it...

*Shrug*

I've done that countless times.  No luck.  ..I can't see the problem.  Must be a setting of some sort?

It works on my other computer

I'm having the same problem with Dell AIO software as well. Try to run it
for the first time, and all it does is take my CPU utilization up to 99%, to the
point where I have to power off and power back on my PC. Support at Dell has
been unable to help (they're directing me to their "Pay for software support
service", for a new printer/PC). Anyone else run into this problem and solve
it?

TIA,

I am having the same problem. Waiting is not going to fix the problem I waited for 10 hours. Tried reboot etc... all the typical stuff. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a solution / work around. Install the software and crash it from task manager or during a reboot. Then press the scan button on your all-in-one. This will launch the application with out the first time run. You can then manually add applications to use with the scanner. (Very cumbersome). Do not select the "Enhanced Search" or you will be back in task manager crashing the app.

My All-in-one shipped with software version A00. A01 was available on driver download site... (The new version did not fix the problem but you can minimize it now and let it run forever)

I HOPE DELL ADDRESSED THIS PROBLEM IN A FUTURE PATCH

I did not see a "check for updates" option as seen in many applications so I will have to keep checking.

We encountered the same problem with a DELL Photo AIO Printer 922 (Windows 2000, SP4, Driver 1.0.21.0, german).
After close inspection we found the following solution:

Warning: if you are unfamiliar with the windows registry, don’t try this

Problem description:
Registry entry HKLM\Software\DellInkjet\Photo AIO Printer 922\Scan is write protected and cannot be overwritten while the AIO center starts.
Therefore the software will not start and hang up while „seaching for applications“ is displayed.

Solution:
1. Start regedt32 and give yourself rights to delete key
2. Delete key
3. Restart AIO center

Any advice for those of us not familiar with the registry?  Can you guide me through it?  The AIO center has never popped up for me and is not located though the start menu.

Thanks

I'm still having this problem with starting up the AIO Center with my 966 but only on one computer; it worked on a spare computer.

Did you ever find a real solution?  I downloaded the latest update and that still didn't solve my problem.

Thanks.

I realize finally that Dell is junk! I have reinstalled over a dozen times, and if I never connected online, it should work! Of course the support is never there! I have told everyone to NEVER buy a Dell anything and unfortunately have been told that also!
