Dell All in One Center will not open: Application Error - dlbaiox.exe

Help!!
I have a Dell a A920 injet printer that will print but I can not get it to scan. When I try to open the All in one center I get an application error.

The application failed to initialize properly ( 0xc0000034)  Click ok to terminate the application.

My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 1000 running Windows XP home.

Thanks,

Since you are running XP there should be no reason your AIOC will not work. Please uninstall the AIO Center and reinstall. Also, you may want to update your driver.

I reinstalled the orginal software from the dell cd and also downloaded and ran an install from the product support website and received the same application error when I attempt to open the all in one center.

The printer will print ok, I just can not use the scanning function.

I am running Vista with an A940 and can't get All In One to open either.  Is this a known Vista problem?  Are we still waiting for a solution?

Yes, this is a known Vista problem as you might have gathered from my mistake above :smileyhappy:

If you are having trouble getting the AIOC to work try this. It was done for a different model and it got the scanner working. Please try it and let us know if it works. This is for Vista only.
  1. Click on the start.
  2. Type in "system" in the start search.
  3. Click on the advanced system settings.
  4. Click on settings button under the "Performance" section.
  5. Click on the tab that says "Data Execution Prevention."
  6. Check the box that says "Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I select: "
  7. Click on ADD
  8. Browse to c:\program files\dell AIO printer 966\
  9. Select the aioc.exe and choose add.
  10. Similarly do so for device monitor and all other printer related executable files. (I will be checking more into this and will let you know what I find.)
  11. Restart the computer. After doing so, you should be able to scan from the scanners and camera wizard, dell AIO center and also MS Paint.

I tried following this procedure but when I got to the Dell AIO Printer A940 folder there was no aioc.exe file.  (My printer is an A940, not a 966).  Do I have to turn on the option that let's me see system files?

Hello All
To phred84. I have the same set up as you and the A920 is fine. I just loaded the CD into XP! However  (All Vista Users) I have a Desktop with Vista X64 and All in One Centre will not load or any software unless I copy exe. files directly. I can print and scan using Paint etc., (slow) but the the Scan buttons on the unit will not work (Fine in XP!). Trying Gina`s Fix for AIOC?
Thanks
