Dell C1760 paper jam

The panel on my printer indicates a paper jam.  I have opened and reopened the printer, searched everywhere that I can see and there is not paper.  I have unplugged the printer to attempt to reset it.  All to no avail.  The printer thinks that there is a paper jam and will not print anything.  I'm wondering if there is a bad sensor somewhere.  Any ideas?

Do as I did and throw this piece of junk in the garbage where it belongs.

Here are my suggestions:

1) Review the "Clearing Jams" sections of the user's guide .  Make sure all of the known paper jam areas are inspected and any paper jams are cleared.

2) Run the "Tool box --> Diagnostics Tab --> Machine Check --> Main Motor Operation Check --> Press [Start]" to force out any hidden paper.  The motor will run for about 15 - 20 sections.  Thereafter, repeat step #1.  You can refer to the "Noise" section in the user's guide for more information.
