Dell Laser Printer 1700 - Use with a Mac?

Our school has a new Dell Laser Printer 1700. Is there any driver and any way to use this printer with a Macintosh Imac with OS 9.2?

Can't speak for 9.2 but it works fine with OSX and a Lexmark E232 driver....

Could you please post more detailed instructions on how to make the "Dell Laser Printer 1700" work with OSX? I have 10.4.2. I just spoke with a Dell drone and he told me that the 1700 is *not* compatible. I am considering buying the printer, but only will do so if I am confident that my mac can make it go.

So I did a bit more research, and I've concluded that the Dell 1700 is a rebranded Lexmark E232. If this is the case, the Lexmark E232 drivers (available for download for Mac OS 8, 9 and 10 on the Lexmark website) should work fine. Can anybody confirm this based on their experience with the 1700?

The only thing that gives me pause is that if the drivers are so readily available, why would Dell tell me that the 1700 is not Mac compatible? Why wouldn't Dell provide the Mac drivers themselves?

Confirm OSX 10.4.3 and Lexmark E232 drivers for the 1710 printer. It works. Also works when printer is attached to a Win2K PC and is shared via SMB, and you want to print to it from OSX remotely.

Thanks a lot for this link!! This printer is the most amazing thing that I've ever owned - I've had it for 6 years and never had to change to toner cartridge and it prints perfectly every time.

Bought a new iMac OSX 10.9.2.  It saw the 1700n on the network and loaded a driver right off.  No problems with it.  Love my 1700n.
