Dell v313w -- windows 8 -- won't install
Hello, I also have a similar problem, my Dell v313w works fine on my win 7 desktop, but on my new Acer Laptop Win 8, the old printer disk wont install, and the new win 8 driver installs the everything but the Dashboard buttons will not work, cant Scan, go into Scan destinations, advanced can setting, etc. I can scan in MS Paint, scan from Printer Icon in Printers and Devices etc. But I like the Dashboard because I can scan directly into PDF, help me out please,
Bruce

Bruce,
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.
Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.
Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, programs and features, Dell V313w Printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 8 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 8 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time(powered on).
Links to the drivers can be found at...
Dell V313 All-In-One Printer owners thread
Remember virus programs and firewalls will block communications. If not virus program was installed, then Winbdows Defender is the default. Try reading...

Tried it, got 'Installation Error':' Your operating system cannot support the Dell V310 Series printer. Installation cannot continue.' Also when you say 'Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 8 64-bit' did you mean Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7(Seven) 64-bit?

Also: I tried this as you suggested to another user:
'jean92024,
Printer disk should allow you to download the new installation program.
Try the below procedure and let me know what happens.
First run Delete Print Jobs to remove stuck print job(s) from the queue, then restart your computer.
Make sure the printer is not usb cable connected.
Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, programs and features, Dell V515w Printer, uninstall.
Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal
With the computer online, insert the printer disk, choose additional computer, network and follow the instructions. The printer should download the updated version of the drivers and install, then follow the instructions. It should ask to find your printer.'
MY result: 'Installation Error' : 'Failed to create print object Dell V310 Series(Network), The printer driver is unknown(1797)'.
My install disk is Win 7 and previous.
I am going to try the same procedure using the USB cable now.

Also: after the above procedure I found the 'Launch Dell Printer Home' shortcut on my desktop and clicked it,
the Error Message 'DL_Dashboard.exe missing' appeared.

manythreads,
The confusion comes in when you jumped in a thread that someone else was getting help. Your thread was split to it's own thread but the information may not be correct.
Do you have a Dell V313 printer or a Dell V515 printer?
Wired or does the printer have a wireless adapter?

manythreads,
Run Delete Print Jobs
Restart the computer.
Go to
C:\dell
Look in the folder for the unzipped package for this printer. Locate the setup file, right click on it, left click, properties. Change the compatibility mode to Vista SP2. Apply, OK.
Right click on setup, left click run as administrator. Choose additional computer, network and follow the instructions. It should ask to find the printer.

manythreads,
Printer uses Dell Printer Home, correct?
Try reading...
Update list of applications to send scans to
You can add Adobe Reader to the list. I have a V715w Printer and scan from the printer, using the scan buttons, it finds the applications through Dell Printer Home and allows those programs you added to the list on the printer.

I am unable to select any of those options because the buttons don't do anything when I click on them in Dell Printer Home. Also when I select destinations manually on the printer, it will show my Acer Laptop, but is unable to download any destination or application. But it does work with the desktop. But I need the printer to work with the Laptop
