Dimension 3000 and the 720

Question

Read many, many of the Q &A about the 720 printer.  But didn't see any concerning if it will work on the Dimension 3000 with XP.  Took some of the suggestions and instructions to try and get mine running. No luck.  No Lexmark Z615 or 605 listed in my choices. The support link brought me right back here to the forum.   And the 'my storage space' did not list  windows XP.  I was given the 720 with no cable or disc. I bought a cable at the local 'Wally World', so no problem there. This thing recognizes that I have hooked up the 720 printer, but cannot find it to install it.  After reading all the problems do I want to keep trying to install, is it worth it, and if so, how?  Thanks in advance for any help. (I should add in that I am a bit dumb on these things.)

You must install the Dell 720 printer driver. Since you don't have the cd, you can download the driver free from the Dell site. Lexmark ink cartridges and drivers do not work with the Dell printer. The Dell printers work with any computer running Windows 2000 or Windows XP.

Hi spicannspann. I have a Dimension 3000 with XP professional and I have the 720 printer that I got for free hooked up to it. I did get an installation disk with the printer, so that was not a problem for me. From my understanding, you can get the printer driver here

I use the printer and it works ok. Not spectacular, but ok. It does seem to run out of ink quicker than my old HP printer and the ink cartridges are only available from Dell - so be forwarned about that.

hi i have a windows 98 and i bought this photo printer 720 from this person and i cannot find a driver for this so is there any way i can up grade or download windows2000 on to windows 98 with out a disk?  please let me no if you no. thanks  sarahwest58@hotmail.com    i can't even email dell comustor support. help.

I gave up on the 720 and bought a Lexmark. Haven't hooked it up yet. But was told it would work fine.  I tried everything to get the 720 to work. More hassle than what it seemed to be worth.  Best of luck.   Ann  Message Edited by spicannspann on 03-30-2005 10:02 PM
