error messages on both black and color.

my printer hasn't reconized color for quite q while now so i only ran black. now it states errors on both and will not do anything. these are genuine dell ink cart. having used the refill type before i thought there would be better concqences with the name brand. i can't use it at all. how can i reset it to start from the beginning or what do you suggest. \please\ help. thank you so much.
