How do I obtain All-in-one Center software?

Question

Recently upgraded a C521 from XP to Vista Basic and am trying to use my AIO 810 printer to scan a document. On pressing the scan button on the printer nothing happens.  The original CD that came with the printer is for XP and when trying to run setup.exe it says the operating system is incompatable with the disc. So can anyone advise how I can obtain the All-in-one centre software/drivers for Vista to allow scanning to function. Thanks

Well, if Dell decided to include that printer in the update program to Vista, the print and scan drivers should be on Dell's support site. However, getting the other software may be real difficult as some of it is licensed S/W...... and is the reason why Dell can't place it on-line for download. (for instance, the OCR S/W is licensed)

I've encountered the same thing with some of the AIO lasers...... anyone else have 2-cents to drop in here?

You can try installing the OCR Program from the disk, it may or may not work. If it doesn't then you'll need to try an OCR Program from the internet. Simple OCR should work nicely with your computer and printer.

Hello Rick and thanks for your reply and advice. I followed your instructions and I am glad to report that printing and scanning are now working successfully. There was only one glitch when loading the 32 Bit Vista driver as it came back with an error saying that the driver installation had not worked. But I persevered and ran the setup.exe from the Abbyy folder and scanning worked perfectly. So thanks again for your advice. Regards
