hp4500printer will not recognize windows live e mail

Hi, I know this is Dell forum, but I'm reaching out in desperation? I've been a member here for a long time. I use a insp 546 with win7(only bought this because Dell would not acknowlege the capacitor problem w/ 510,which became junk) So much problem going to win 7 from XP. . Ok, I bought a hp4500g(ink is cheaper), I use win 7 (64),my issue is the printer will not support the windows live e mail program on my system? (I've been to hp 3x,with no solution). I know PUGGY & crew are smarter. My friend has XP and OUTLOOK,and it works ok. My problem is,,there is no scan to e mail direction from the printer, I have to save everything to a doc first then to e mail? For some reason the printer will only recognize Outlook?, although HP says it should work? ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED. Thanks

schlo,

Did you try asking the people at MICROSOFT ANSWERS or WINDOWS SEVEN FORUMS, maybe they have a way. Windows Mail is their product.

schlo,

Get them where it hurts. Tell them that if this will not work, then you want to return the printer. You didn't have it that long, so it should work.

schlo,

Thanks for the compliment. I wouldn't say I'm number one but I can figure out some things. There are many email programs, now you have to decide which one to se.

Take care,

schlo,

I saw your last post. I guess it was removed because of the link to the website. I cannot figure out what the extra step would have been. I'd probably start using an email program like Outlook, Mozilla thunderbird or one of the other email programs.

Just remember that Mozilla Thunderbird will only send from the one email account setup as default.

Don't understand the deletion, don't mean to offend  anyone ,but ok,  The xtra step is this,  when I scan something I have to save it to a file, document, etc..and then I can envoke my e mail application and send the scan as an attachment,,pdf file etc. If the printer could have supported the web e mail, it could have been done from the printer directly. If I choose to change my e mail to outlook ,how do I get the program??the comcast outlook seems to be another server e mail??thanks

schlo,

Sometimes the TOS team removes the thread instead of editing out the link. If the place sells a product and there is a profit made, then the link should be removed. Don't worry, we all have had a TOS now and again.

Outlook id a part of Microsoft Office. If you have it, then it can be installed. If NOT, then you can try any of the 12 FREE email Programs.

The instructions to use an email program with Comcast.net will be the same. Comcast & Outlook Express Pay close attention to steps 13 and 14 or it won't work.

Just  to concluded this ,I went to the the scanner company & got this back,,,haven't heard from HP...

Thank you for contacting. Technical Support,

Unfortunately, I tested the program and it does not seem to want to function with Windows live mail.  You would need to have either outlook or outlook express in order to use this feature without much work.

If we can be of further assistance, please contact us.

Thank you

schlo,

Why a printer company wouldn't realize that you cannot scan to a web based email is beyond me. I figured that out right away.

Remember, if you have problems, we're always here to help you.

Take care,
