ios 8 update causing URF ERROR Airprint not working
After updating iPhones and iPads to Apples ios 8 Airprint not working. Printer works beautifully with my 5S which has not been updated and still runs on IOS 7. Are there any firmware updates for the B1165nfw laser printers coming soon to correct this problem?

I am also very frustrated. The ONLY reason I bought this Dell B1165NFW was for the airprint from my IPAD and it does not work. PLEASE FIX THIS!!!
I will be forced to return this printer if this does not get addressed quickly.
The Dell Print App can not detect the printer and I emailed the app creator and they said they do not support this printer. How can that even be possible?

The update has been released (link below for Dell B1265dfW). It appears to have been released on Dec 1 (11 days ago). I never received notification even though I signed up for the "Dell automatic alerts" for this product. Also, a Dell representative should have posted the update to this forum. Nevertheless, it is live and appears to work. There seemed to be a long delay when printing an email from an iPhone 6+ but printing a PDF in iBooks was very quick.
I successfully updated from a PC (Windows 8) connected via Network (not USB) using the Dell Dell B1265dfW Update Utility. Evidently this was automatically installed when I first installed the printer software from disk. To update I downloaded the file (link below); extracted the file; then navigated to the file using the Firmware Update Utility. The update went pretty quick. After the update the status changed to "network error" within the update utility. After hitting refresh the status returned to normal. The Firmware version displayed in the box changed from 3.70.01.08 (March 21, 2013) to 3.70.01.12 (Oct 29, 2014).
Hope this helps someone! :-)

I spoke to Dell regarding this update and this firmware update is not for the b1165nfw printer. Supposedly the correct firmware update will not be released until sometime in January. I can't believe this issue takes so long to fix.

AirPrint on iOS8 is does not currently work correctly with our 1xxx series monochrome printers. AirPrint will detect these printers, but cannot print to them. This will be resolved in a future firmware update. The impacted printers are:

THIS INFORMATION IS NO LONGER CORRECT!! The AirPrint on iOS 8 was fixed with a new firmware that was released 12/01/2014 for printer B1265. There has also been a firmware update for printers B1163 and B1260. Only B1165 remains unfixed.

It should be out shortly. They are probably still "testing" it. The firmware update for the other 3 models were actually dated in October but not actually "released" until December.

Thanks coputerexpert71 for the update.
But we B1165 users are still left in the dark, the update you're talking about is the B12 series, at least we're seeing that they're working to fix the issue on other models.
It's simply outrageous that it's taking them so long to fix air print, other manufacturers had their fix right after the iOS 8 release.
Where's Josef E his last post was on October 17, are you still monitoring this forum? Any update when we'll have the update for B1165? It's about 6 months since the iOS 8 beta is out!! What a shame on Dell, no more Dell products for me with such lousy updates.

I've been tracking this thread because I had the same problem with my B1260dn and I've been able to fix it and get Airprint working again.
Have an old iPhone 4s and an AT&T iPad Mini 2
Updated printer firmware to V3.70.01.16 Oct-29-2014
AND
Updated iOS to 8.1.2 on both devices.

Hi computerexpert 71,
I have searched the downloads and drivers for the Dell B1260dn and the only firmware updates I am seeing are up to Feb 2014. Where can I find this latest update to fix the AirPrint iOS 8 upgrade debacle, as referred to above?
Thank you for your help.

Dell finally released the air print update for the B1165nfw but the download only includes a HD File (.hd) without the EXE installer, and when I click on the file it asks me to select a program to open with.
I think the .hd file is the actual firmware file that installs on the printer, but without the installer it's obsolete! HELP!!

OK I figured it out! For all B1165nfw users, Dell didn't include an installer in the latest firmware update as they did in previous firmware upgrades, they only provide the actual firmware file.
So to get the firmware installed you'll have to download the Application zip file found in the Drivers and Download section of this printer, save and run the setup, select to install the firmware update utility, once installed run the utility, there you'll find a browse field, select the new downloaded firmware file (.hd file) and install the new firmware.
I hope this helps unfortunate B1165nfw users waiting for AirPrint for MONTHS!!
