Is there a downloadable software cd for my A940?

Hi All,  I contacted Dell about getting a replacement software cd (I almost never use it but cannot find it now, maybe it was inside a cdrom drive I tossed) but dell said the printer is replaced so cannot sell me one.  I am using downloaded drivers for the printer but the firmware keeps telling me drivers were not located but there ARE.  Anyway, the only thing I can't get the All in one to do is scan.  Is there something I can download to get the scanning capability, does anyone know?

TIA for any help....katy

Thanks Rick for all the info.  My printer is connected to xp desktop via USB cable.  it is that machine that I want to scan with the printer.  When I went to dell's site and downloaded the drivers and firmware, that is all there was available for my printer for xp.  There was nothing to download for patches or utilities.

Is there any other place I could possibly download just the utilities?  Or are you saying that by installing the firmware and drivers, I'll be installing what WAS on the Drivers & utilities cd that came with the printer?

I should mention that when I enter my tag number and windows XP to find anything for this printer, that is when I get the drivers and firmware only.  That's why I'm wondering where the software is :smileyhappy:

Try doing it this way. The drivers, Utilities and patches can be found by installing correctly using the method below.

How are you connected to the printer? wired of wireless?

If wired, disconnect your printer. Go to start/programs/Dell printers and un-install your printer.

Restart your computer.

Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers, Utilities, firmware and Patches.

Install your printer. You'll be prompted when to connect it.

If wireless, fix your network first.

Update the firmware in your wireless router. Manufacturer's website, make & Model needed.

Broadcast SSID(You may want to change this to make it easier to connect)

Use WPA security

Mixed b and g mode(n if available)

Use channels 1, 6 or 11. Most devices work better on these channels.

After router is done, now setup your wireless print server/printer.

If wireless printer server is used, Plug USB cable into computer and print server. Insert the print server disk. Choose Network, then choose print server and follow the instructions.

Now setup the printer.

Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers, Utilities, firmware and Patches.

Install your printer. Choose Network. Install the drivers.

Everything should now work.

I found this. The drivers should have the program included. Remember to download these drivers and firmware. Follow the instructions above. Do the drivers first, it will prompt you when to connect your printer. After the printer is installed, then do the firmware. Printer needs to be connected to do this.
