Jam, paper jam errors. Read this before posting.

We are seeing many printers coming back from customers with debris or objects "inside" the printer. These are causing many of the jam errors.
* Unplug the power cord from the printer
* Remove all paper from the printer
* Turn the printer upside down and gently shake it
* Post here if this action dislodged debris from inside the printer and fixed your jam issue

These are great pictures. Can you please post what printer you are working on? I will probably extract this part of the thread so it will help others with the same type of printer.

The 962 is the printer I have.  Don't know for sure if the pictures are of the 962.

The pictures are of a friends printer that they were going to throw away.  Model 942 B  When this printer jammed she was putting tissue paper sheets one at a time through because it wouldn't take from the feeder.  These are stained glass patterns.  After about 12 sheets one jammed and that was when it probably bent the lever.

I just looked back at the original post to this thread.  August 2006.  As of 10:45 today 8 Jan 2007 it has been viewed 2,830 times.  I realize that each time I open that page it counts, and I've been watching this thread for a week or so.  If you average it out there are still hundreds of customers out there with this one little problem.  You are a laison so I expect you to carry this message to your section head and tell them that you see a trend in the failure of this little lever that is giving hundreds of people a lot of grief.
Don't try this at home yet but I think if the engineers approved it we couldt take a pair of small wire cutters or nail clippers and cut the lever off so it can't cause someone to buy a new printer. I don't need to be told about a paper jam.

From the movie "Office Space"  PC Load Letter
PC" stands for "Paper Cartridge", and is the part of the printer that holds paper. Letter is the standard paper size (8.5x11 inches) in the United States and Canada . "Load", in this context, is roughly synonymous with "refill." In short, the phrase means that there is no letter-sized paper in the paper tray.

Respectfully,

Please realize that the original post was general information on how to fix a paper jam error and is meant general information on things that can be done. Please realize that this post applies to all printers not just the printer type you have. But to let you know I do report these type of issues.
