MFP 1600n Laser - print out shimmering

The fuser is the part that "fuses" the toner onto the paper surface making it permanent. It would be very unusual for the fuser to be non-functional without causing a printer error.

Another thing to look at is the paper your using. Are you using 20lb plain paper? Not glossy? Not thick?

Thick or glossy paper will prevent the toner from being fused correctly unless the paper type settings in the printer are set correctly. If you're using photo paper, ensure it's made for use in Laser printers.

Like I said in my initial reply..... if the fuser were bad (i.e., not hot enough), you'd likely have an error message on the operator panel.

The fuser isn't that tough to replace, the trick will be getting one. If you can find someone at Dell to sell you one, the p/n is N5796.

I'd examine your paper type settings first. For plain paper, the type should be set to "plain"

Also ensure you are not using a paper that inhibits toner fusion, i.e., glossy paper not intended for laser printers.

Also, are you using DELL branded toner?

The toner you can buy at your local "refill shop" is NOT the same quality toner as the OEM cartridges, no matter what they tell you. Inferior toner can also cause this problem.

Well, I've checked paper settings already before and it's all correct, paper isn't glossy and I use only Dell brand toner, so - it must be that fuser. Do you by any chance have an idea how much does it cost?

Nope, sorry.... no clue on the cost.

I've seen some of these (the whole printer) on eBay that work and some available for parting out.

Might be a good place to look 1st.
