Missing or Defective Cartridge Dell 2330dn laser printer

We were receiving the error 31.01 "missing or defective cartridge". We installed a new toner carfridge but got the same error. After contacting Dell and chatting for 1.5 hours, they could not resolve the problem. We tried updating the firmware, but the error prevented this from installing.

I examined the contacts on the toner cartridge and then checked the contacts in the printer. One of the contacts (clip-like) inside of the printer was stuck tin the down position and slightly bent. After powering off, I used a needle nose pliers to straighten and reshape it and retested. The error message disappeared and the printer is working fine. We updated the firmware to the latest revision and now have a good, working laser printer.
