New 968 Prints but will not scan with USB connection
Windows Vista, Dell Precision T3400. I updated firmware. All software is up to date. When I try to scan from the Desktop Center I receive an error that states: Make sure the All In One is powered on; Disconnect and Reconnect the USB cable; Disconnect and Reconnect the Power Cable; Restart Your Computer. I have done all these things, uninstalled and reinstalled the printer, etc. I called the support center and they just sent me a new printer and I get the same error.

lonestartx,
How are you connecting the 968 printer to your computer? USB Cable, wireless print server or using the wireless server in the printer?

USB Cable. I am not sure if there is a specific one I need to use? I have tried a couple of different ones on the back of the computer, and that doesn't help nor hinder.

lonestartx,
Sorry, I should have read the subject better, I had a long day.
First make sure your computer has all the Windows updates. I have the custom ones too, especially the new framework(Needed to run many applications). Also make sure to have the latest Java. Since you didn't mention how the printer's connected, here the basic instructions for this printer.
Disconnect your printer.
Un-install your printer.
Restart your computer.
Download the proper drivers.
XP Drivers
Vista 32-bit Drivers
64-bit Drivers
All other drivers
Install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect the printer(powered on). Please use a 5ft USB Cable or smaller.

Choose your printer. Beneath your printer, select your operating system. You'll be redirected to another page. Then click on show all steps. It will walk you through the installation process.
Remember to install the latest firmware for the 968 printer.
