New insight into Wireless Vista/AIO 966 - Printer communication stopped

I know there have been several related threads to this issue, but I haven't found one that solves my problem...any insight would be greatly appreciated!!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just received a new 9400/E1705 running Vista (with Intel Next-Gen Wireless-N) and new wireless AIO966 2 days ago. After "Printer Communication System" problem occurred, I too was told to uninstall and reinstall with the latest driver (R145450). To no avail. Oh it works for about 5 minutes after reboot before the "Printer Communication System" stopped pops up. Funny thing is, 3 weeks ago they sent me a E1705 and this problem didn't occur (a Sonic one did), they had to send me a new 1705 'cause of a motherboard problem...then this arrives with no motherboard problem, just a printer problem (and no Sonic issue)!

I have a Dell dimension also networked in and running XP, and it works fine with the 966. Additionally, I cannot do scanning to the Vista notebook, list not found always pops up - must be related. I can do it to the XP box.

I too just spent 4 hrs on the phone with Dell and got passed on from printer folks to vista folks...and no one seems to even be aware of this or this community! Their common problem database didn't seem to include this issue.

Any new ideas?

One other weird thing, after I reboot my machine, If I do not login reasonably soon after the screen appears, I only get limited access to the network with NO internet connectivity, but if I do log in fairly quickly, I NEVER have that happen and it connects normaly...any explanations??

Since my previous post of this message was removed for violating terms of service, i will just re-post this without my symbols.....Is that ok with you Dell?  You sure are quick to fix things in the forum that violate terms of service but you sure are not quick at fixing customer problems............"Boy I tell ya, I love the replies you get back from these people at
Dell!!!  Have you disabled the firewall ? Have you updated the firmware ?
Do you have the correct drivers ?  Have you tried to unistall and
reinstall the software ??   Whats next dell, are you going to ask us if we
have the printer plugged in ? ...Absolutley no help at all.......Why
dont you just tell us that you do not know what is going on......Do
you people not see all of these printer communication problems going on
??......Why don you try reading all of these posts in this forum!!
Every other post is a something about printer communication has stopped
working......You people need to huddle up and figure out a dang fix for
this.....This is getting old and very ridiculous!   You have a lot of
upset people right now because you cant seem to tell us what is going on
with this and how to fix it!!"

Yes, I do read all the posts and as I run across various posts that seem to need escalation, I will escalated these. However, the reason for questions is because the more information that can gather about what's going on could provide a solution. It may come as a solution that is already out there that a user or I can provide. But if there is yet to be a solution I can then send the information gathered to those that I escalate to so they can recreate the error. lf you do not post the information then I or other users on the forum need to ask. Giving the information may  It may be that someone will see something that they've experience and know how to solve

Ok so you say you want information, well let me post my issue to you for about the 100th time :

It works for a few prints but after an hour or so you get a system popup that says:

Printer Communication System stopped working and was closed
A problem caused the application to stop working correctly.
Windows will notify you if a solution is available.

Here are the details from the vista problem tracking system:

Problem Event Name: APPCRASH
Application Name: dlcjcoms.exe
Application Version: 99.99.99.99
Application Timestamp: 454fa761
Fault Module Name: ntdll.dll
Fault Module Version: 6.0.6000.16386
Fault Module Timestamp: 4549bdc9
Exception Code: c0000005
Exception Offset: 0002bb49
OS Version: 6.0.6000.2.0.0.256.1
Locale ID: 1033

I believe I am  not the only one having this problem with vista and the wireless 3300.....I have seen I dont know how many other posts with people having the same problem!!....We have all performed the steps asked by you and the dell techs over in India and I have yet to see anyone have any luck......I think I speak for everyone else when I say, We just want some answers as to what the problem is with this.....None of you people from Dell are telling us anything!  ....We all have spent a lot of money on Dell equipment and we deserve some kind of support to any issues that we have.  I am going on 3 months with a brand new printer that I cant even print from because of this problem. I have done everything you and your tech support have told me to and nothing has worked. You people just leave us hanging!.....THIS IS ABSOLUTLEY UNACCEPTABLE!!..... I PROMISE YOU, AFTER THIS EXPERIENCE WITH DELL,  I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH YOU PEOPLE AGAIN!  .......WORD OF MOUTH SPREADS LIKE FIRE!

I finally gave up, returned my 966, ordered an HP7410 (on sale now in Office Depot for $250.),
HOOKED IT UP, AND IMAGINE THIS, everything WORKED first TIME!  I'm thrilled...

I'm currently having a problem where I was able to configure my 966 w/ the wireless card (it is seeing my network) but I could not get Vista system to find it automatically.  I ended up mapping it by IP address, which seemed to work, but when I print anything my computer says sent but my 966 does not react.  All jobs hung up in the queue.

Any suggestions??

I have isolated the problem and have a bit of a work around.

When you get the famous "Printer communication Stopped", the dell service dlcq_device has crashed.  You can restart it and you will be okay to print for 15 mins or so.

Here's a workaround:

Change the service to restart by itself when it fails.  You will still get the message box about the failure but you can pretty much print anytime you want.   This is how you change the service
From the start menu, type  "services" and hit enter.  Click Continue when you get the control access message box.
Scoll to the service dlcq_device.  Double click on its to get properites.
Goto Recovery tab.
Change first failure, second failure and subsequent failure to "Restart the Service"
Reset fail count after: 0
Restart service after: 1

Good luck.  If anyone knows how to stop the service from failing (or what causes it) please reply.  Or if you have more info.
