Hello,

My Photo 964 AIO Printer is scanning but not printing.

The error message is "The local print spooler service is not running"

I have gone into:

Help & Support - Printer problem - Why I can't print:

-I have checked for updates - my computer is up to date

   -Then: Administrative Tools/ Services/ Print Spooler/ Properties/ General Tab/ Startup Type/ Automatic

-Under Servive Status: I clicked Start / Apply then OK and it is still NOT printing, after I have unplug everything replugged, restarted!!

I need HELP please!

Hi Elijah,

I have tried to follow your instruction; however I not able to run the download, I keep getting the following error message, even after rebooting 3 times:

Windows Configuration Error

An error was encountered trying to configure Windows to allow
flashing, please reboot and try again. If this error re-occurs, please contact
technical help.

Regards,

Alice

Hi Sarfaraz,

Thanks for your kind help.

I am not sure the USB cable is the problem, as the scanner works, but not the printing in DELL 964 AIO Printer

Originally there was an error message, that there was a print spooler problem. It has been fixed.

When trying to print a test page, the document appears briefly in "printing documents window" to dissappear 30 second later without printing. There seems to be a communication problem between the printer and the PC??

Dell Photo AIO Printer 964 does not appear in "All Programmes" folder

Alice

Hi,

Did you completely uninstall the Printer Software? Its under control panel>programs and features ?

If not,  try removing all printer software drivers and retry reinstalling it. Also, just to rule out, do you have a another PC to install the printer? So we can check the printer functionality.

If printer is working correctly, I think the Operating System has some issues preventing your printer software to function.

Hi Rick/ Elijah,

Following Rick's instructions, I have uninstall and reinstalled Printer and Driver many times and nothing has changed, other than I don't get the Spooler error message which I did get once at the beginning.

I have done many trouble shootings, and I always get the message that the printer is properly installed.

I have checked all the Drivers, they are all up to date.

I get no error  messages.

I did remember yesterday that early last week, I did unplug the printer's USB cable while it was switched on and my computer suddenly crashed and went into a scrolling check (don't know the name for this auto-action).

Any possibility I have damaged the USB cable?

Although I don't understand why the Scanner from the same piece of equipment is working fine, using the same USB cable.

I have tried different USB ports, the Scanner works perfectly but the Printer does not work!!

if it is a USB Port issue, can it be checked? how can it be corrected?

I have noticed that I gave the wrong PC model number; the correct one is XPS 400/Dimension 9150

Thanks again for taking the time to help me; it is much appreciated.

Alice,

If the scanner works, can you copy a document under the glass? Black & White and color? The printer needs to function in order to install properly.

Will the printer install on a different usb port?

Hi Rick,

Yes, I was able to scan in both Black & White and Colour.

I have finally managed to fix my Printer..:emotion-2: ..thanks to you!!! thanks to your great help and your patience!!!!

I think I know what I have done wrong.

I did not Un-install the Driver properly. Because I could not find some of your instructions, I only removed the device thinking I was Un-installing but I wasn't obviously, as I did it many times and it never worked. Dell Printer 964 AIO did not appear in my All programs in my PC, so I could not Un-install it from there.

This afternoon, I remembered that the only place where I saw the Un-install option for the Driver was in Control Panel/ Device Manager/ Imaging Devices/ Dell Photo AIO Printer 964

An hour ago, I decided to try to Un-install from there, although I was nervous to make a bad operation! then I Re-installed Driver Vista 32-bit, as per your instructions; however I neither got a prompted window allowing me to select Vista SP2 compatibility mode, nor a window telling me when I needed to turn on my device (printer).

What a relief when I clicked on Print Test Page, the printer started!

Let me know if I should write this comment on the Printer thread, so it helps others?

Thanks a million; you are a star!!
