PLEASE HELP I can't install my HP c4280

Question

I have tried it ALL!!!!! I have followed all the instructions on HP support for the fatal error 2738 nothing works. I have let windows vista detect it and it installed the driver but when i got to add printer i get the error message can't install (error 0x000003be) I called HP WHAT A JOKE and three hours of my life I will never get back! I am ready to return and never buy HP again. PLEASE someone help me!!   I purchased a HP Photosmart c4280 all in one printer     I have a dell xps410 dual processors 2.13 2gb of ram Vista home premium

If you do a google search for that error you will find it's not only HP devices that can get that.    As far as HP support, they do not have a good track record, but the HP products have a much better reliability and track record than do some other brands including the Brand on this forum.   I do part-time PC support and ther are 'horror stories' from all vendors, but I find the HP to be one of the most reliable and easiest to install.  I installed a new Vista PC for a customer last week and he used his old (Vista compatible) HP All in One and there were no problems.   The only suggestion I can offer is to make sure the HP is not plugged into the PC, use the System Restore function and restore it to a date prior to first attempting to install the HP.  That will give you a clean start, run the install program and ONLY physically connect the unit to the PC when the install program tells you.   The two brands I recommend to my Clients are HP and Epson (Epson if they need direct CD/DVD label printing).

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I hate Vista, why dont Dell offer the XPS420 with XP? I have been trying for 2 days to load the drivers for my new C4280 Printer! I found a hotfix from Microsoft that was supposed to resolve the problem but it DOES NOT! Now I am loosing the will to live, i still get the following error-   windows found driver software but encountered an error while attempting to install it HP Photosmart C4200 Printer series (DOT4USB) the system cannot find the file specified. what is going on?   I think Dell have made a big mistake offering Vista before it's ready.
