Printer USB trouble, USB has worked before, now driver redownloaded & its not recognized by the computer
We redownloaded the driver from Dell for a 924 printer, and each attempt to print brings a pop up saying the port is wrong, then the usb is not reognized. I clicked on the device manager to activate the usb & it still has no effect and the same notices pop up and we are unable to print,. Is it the cord? Its the original which worked fine in the past with the same computer.

major_tom65,
First, reading bold print makes your post hard to read. My bifocals make it look blurry. Let's start by trying to re-install the drivers with the directions below and then tell me what happens.
Disconnect your printer. Download and run this patch to completely remove the printer from your computer.
Restart your computer.
Download the proper drivers.
XP Drivers
Vista 32-bit Drivers
All other drivers
Install the proper drivers. You'll be prompted when to connect your printer(powered on)
Scanning
Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.
Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.

Does that mean you re-installed all the drivers as well?

With the printer and PC on, unplug the USB cable from one end, wait for ~ seconds and reconnect the cable and look at the PC and see if the operating system detects the USB device. I fis detecting the printer, you might wan to uninstall the printer driver, remove the USB hub from Device manage, rebot the PC and do a clean printer driver install.
