Replaced Ink Cartridges Won't Work

I have a Dell All In One Printer. I bought two new cartridges from Dell. I replaced both the black and the color today and now it won't print.  The messages that I receive are:  THe Black is low (although it is a new cartridge) and "The right cartridge is incorrect (although it is the same number as the old one).

Any thoughts. Yes, these cartridges were purchased directly from Dell.

thank you.

What model printer do you have?

I have a 962 printer. I have cleaned the cartridge, everything looks fine.  I received the cartridges about 4 weeks ago.

A 962 is supposed to reset the ink level indicator automaticaly.
Wipe the electrical contacts on the back of both ink carts and the matching contacts in the ink cart carrier. If that doesn't fix the prob. unplugg the ac cord and the USB cable from the back of the printer for 1 minute. replug and retry. If that still doesn't correct the prob. then put your old color ink cart back in. If it doesn't get the rt cart bad message then the new color ink cart is bad and will be replaced by Dell. If the low ink message on the black ink cart doesn't go away it will probably still print ok and will still print just as long.

Thank you very much for your advise.   I will try all of these steps. I have cleaned the electrical contacts.

I have the same problem.  Has anyone solved this problem?  If so, how do I access replies.  I am new to the message board.  Thanks, Lorraine

I just figured out where the replies are.  In my case, though, not only does my printer indicate a red x for my black cartridge, it also does not print properly.  The ink is actually not getting to the printer.  Yes, I did remove the protective shield.

I also get the following error when I click the "to install a new cartridge, click here" link:

"dlbxpswx.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close.  Please tell Microsoft about this problem ........"  Microsoft gives me the option to send an error report which I do, but I don't receive a message about how to solve/prevent the problem in the future.
