this s_b a940 printer that will not work and no help Dell

I got a Dell computer for Christmas and the a940 printer will not work at all. Have tried everything that the tech support has recommended but still nothing. I think I printed 150-160 test pages and all were blank except for 2 towards then end and they were not even right. Dell says there is nothing they can do about it since it is beyond the 30 days. I think they are crazy. My mother ordered 2 complete computers when this printer was ordered and spent over 2000.00. You would think that they could do something. Anybody with this same problem out there? If so, PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm desparate. I'll try anything.

Thanks,

Since it is less then 30 days old, send it back under warranty and get a new one. If they dont cooperate call the BBB.

Thanks. I guess I'll have to call the BBB because they've already told me I could not send it back. My Invoice says I have a 1 year warranty. Dell doesn't seem to care about anything except getting your inital money and you getting the computer and they are done waiting for the next s__ker.

Thanks again.

I agree with Countryboy03, do everything you can to fight Dell on this issue.  They continue to ignore a major issue which should be reported to the BBB.  What they are doing is about as poor an example of quality and customer service as I have ever seen.

Keep going up the ladder until you get the satisfaction that you, and the rest of the Dell customers deserve.

I EMAILED THEM AGAIN AFTER COUNTRYBOY EMAILED ME STATING TO THEM THAT I HAVE A 1 YEAR WARRANTY AND I GAVE THEM UNTIL MARCH 10 AT 5PM TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IF IT IS NOT CORRECTED BY THEN I WILL CALL THE BBB. I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP. YOU WOULD THINK AFTER SOMEONE PURCHASED 2 COMPLETE COMPUTER UNITS FOR $2000.00 THEY WOULD BE WILLING TO HELP BUT THEY'VE GOT THE MONEY ALREADY AND DON'T CARE. WE NEVER SHOULD HAVE PAID THEM IN FULL UP FRONT AND MAYBE IT WOULD MAKE A LITTLE DIFFERENCE BUT I DOUBT IT. I'M OPEN FOR ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS. IT'S SAD TO KNOW I HAVE AN EXCELLENT COMPUTER BUT CAN'T PRINT ANYTHING. IT REALLY GETS ON MY NERVES WHEN I'M ON THE INTERNET OR RECEIVE SOMETHING FROM SOMEONE THAT I WOULD LIKE TO PRINT AND AM UNABLE TO .

THANKS,

Yes It should be replaced with a working unit under warranty. Make sure that you are very persistant with them and tell them you do not want to troubleshoot because it didn't work when it came out of the box. Tell them that you will get a gateway next time!!! Better yet HP is a better competitor so tell them youll get both HP computers and HP printers HA good luck

Ryan,

IT'S FUNNY THAT YOU PUT IN THERE TO TELL THEM THAT I'LL GET A GATEWAY NEXT TIME BECAUSE THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I'VE ALREADY TOLD THEM. THEY WOULD EMAIL ME BACK EACH TIME I EMAILED THEM UNTIL I SAID THAT I WAS GOING TO CONTACT THE BBB IF IT IS NOT RESOLVED BY MARCH 10. I AGREE A HP WOULD BE BETTER.

March 7th, 2004 02:00

I'LL GIVE IT A TRY.

RYAN,

I THINK THE GATEWAY THING GETS THEM EVERYTIME. WHEN THEY WOULD NOT SEND MY MOTHER  THE REBATE ON THE 2 COMPUTERS THAT SHE BOUGHT FOR CHRISTMAS, I CALLED THEM AND WENT OFF ON THEM. I TOLD THEM THAT FROM NOW ON I WOULD RECOMMEND GATEWAYS BECAUSE THEY HAD SO MUCH BETTER SERVICE AND A FEW OTHER THINGS AND THE NO ENGLISH SPEAKING REP SAID OH! YOU HAVE YOUR CHECK IN 3 WEEKS. NOW IF HE COULD GET IT FOR ME IN 3 WEEKS, WHY COULDN'T THEY HAVE SENT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. I GUESS THEY JUST DIDN'T WANT TO COME OFF THE 410.00. WE HAVEN'T ACTUALLY RECEIVED THE CHECK YET BUT GOT AN EMAIL CONFIRMATION THAT IT IS ON ITS WAY. I'LL BELIEVE IT WHEN I SEE IT.

AS FOR THE PRINTER PROBLEM, I HAVE TRIED EVERYTHING TECH SUPPORT SUGGESTED AND CUSTOMER SERVICE KEEPS SENDING ME BACK TO TECH SUPPORT. I JUST EMAILED THEM THAT IT IS NO LONGER A TECH ISSUE IT IS A CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUE. I THINK THEIR SKULLS ARE SO THICK THAT NOTHING IS GETTING THROUGH.

THANKS,

 DAWN

If its not a tech issue, try using the dell customer care chat. I have used it 3 times and it is easy to talk to a person in a chatroom then email or phone. I also dotn feel bad about YELLING. I have found it is only available monday through friday before 7pm est.

HP seems to have good printers. I just prefer the Dell brand name. The reason why I said say Gateway is because I said that when I refund was not being granted to me, and after I said that they gracefully granted me a full refund. Seems like they need to get better customer service and tech support. If that happens then things wouldnt be such a pain to resolve. Just a thought

OKAY, I'LL TRY IT TOMORROW OR MONDAY.

Dawn.  did you try uninstalling all programs related to the 940 and unplugging it.shut down computer for 10 min. then reboot  and reinstall the printer. (just plug it back in, it will reinstall its self.  it worked for me. and, you have nothing to lose...  Good luck..    bob.
