Windows 10 and V313W

Has anyone tested Windows 10 with the Dell V313W printer? Are updated drivers available?

Linda,

I did not have a system with Windows 10 to try.

Did you try using the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode

Try the drivers from Dell V313 All-In-One Printer owners thread

I have not tried it yet. I wanted to see if anyone else has, so I don't end up experimenting after I have installed Windows 10, only to discover that there is no way to connect with the printer.

Perhaps if anyone has experience with this they will post in this topic.

Thanks.

Edit: Yes, I already have the drivers that are listed. Nothing for Windows 8.1 or 10, but I can get the printer to work on 8.1. Just don't want to push my luck with 10. :emotion-40:

Hi i finally got this printer to work with windows 10 so i signed up to hopefully help you and others. I tried the various 64 bit versions but the only one that worked was the windows 7 32 bit version DELL_V313w_wcr_32_en.exe and before install right clicked file and changed compatibility to windows 7. My OS is windows 10 64 bit.

Thanks, nkxtc,

You were lucky. I just spent over 3 hours trying different configurations and approaches, but no joy. Of course all security was disabled, and Windows 7 was attempted first.

The only error message I received is included here. Maybe this will help the techs who are testing compatibility. Until then I have no way to print. If anyone finds a way around this, please post. Thanks.

Editing to add that the printer shows up in installed programs. It just doesn't work, so after each install I had to do some cleanup. :(

The installation tries to update drivers and firmware, shows that updating is successful, but apparently this particular driver is not available?

Linda,

From what I'm seeing, there will not be any support for the printer drivers for this printer.

Windows 10 Compatibility with Dell Printers

Dell is suggesting

Installing Older Windows Printer Drivers in Windows 10

I recently installed Windows 10 on my system and the Dell V715w Printer was installed before I went from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The printer worked when the upgrade was complete.

I am suggesting to members...

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print job in the queue.

Disconnect the printer.

Hit the Windows key and the x keys at the same time, programs and features, your printer, uninstall.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer is removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

Download the Vista 32-bit drivers for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 32-bit or the Vista 64-bit drivers for Windows 7, 8, 8.1 and 10 64-bit. Install the Vista drivers in the Vista Compatibility mode You'll get a message, the printer is not connected. Connect the printer at this time (powered on).

Links to the drivers can be found at…

The small issue if the printer was used by the system before, you may have to  Removing computers from printer scan list

Thank you, Rick, but I had already tried all that and more during my various configurations and troubleshooting. I had been reading printer forum discussions because I knew this project was approaching. You had provided that information to other members previously.

This installation was on a computer that did not have the printer installed prior to upgrading to Windows 10.  I had been trying to use the Dell installation media provided with the printer. I came to the conclusion that perhaps the disc may have become corrupt. Fortunately, I remembered that I had a copy of the setup.exe on a USB stick that I used a couple of years ago to install the printer on my Windows 8.1 laptops sans DVD drives. When I used that copy, the process went smoothly and took only a few minutes. It pays to keep backups of everything!

Linda,

Glad you got it working! Thanks for posting back. You'll need the printer disk to install the OCR Program to be able to scan a document and fax.

As for scanning, if you have the disk that came with the printer, then insert the Printer disk and stop it from running. Go to My Computer and double click on it. Look for the drive with the Dell disk in it. Right click on it, left click explore. Look for the OCR Folder. In the OCR Folder, there is an Abbyy Folder. Right click on setup.exe, that's in the Abbyy Folder and left click run as administrator. This will install the OCR program.

Take care,

Rick

Thanks, Rick. ABBYY FineReader 6.0 was already listed in Programs. It must have been a remnant from a previous installation attempt. Just to be sure I had a clean copy I removed it and reinstalled per your instructions.
(Explore was not in the left-click menu, but I found the OCR folder easily.)
At least that part of the disc is working. All is well.
