Alienware X51 missing uncdms.dll

On a new PC with WIndows 7 having just installed Office 2010, I get the message missing uncdms.dll on boot up.  I have read through all the posts and turned off the Windows Search function in the control panel but it makes no difference.  What can I do to resolve the issue?

It is apparently loading (or trying to load) that file at start up.  Turning off the search function won't make a difference.

If all the google search hits do not work you can try the Microsoft Fixit

Hi ronnym,

Welcome to the Community ,

Missing UNCDMS.DLL means that Windows Desktop search file is missing from your computer  or it is not detecting while boot up . In windows XP you have to install Windows Desktop Search 3.01 but in Windows 7 Windows Search is built into the system . U have to enable the option not Disable it .

Go to Control panel ->Programs and Features . Then check windows Search option and Reboot the computer. It should work fine .

Please respond if it worked and please let me know if you need any other help. If that doesnot work try

support.microsoft.com/fixit
