Camulus,

You will probably not get any action from your post as this is a user-to-user conference. However, to determine the Product ID of Office SBE download and run Belarc Advisor (available here). It will display the Product ID of all Microsoft products installed.

You may have more success resolving the missing CD issue using Chat. See this. You also might try Customer Support (rather than Tech Support).

So no Dell Moderators cruise this forum?

Don't expect Dell to respond to your posting on these forums. They're only for technical issues, Dell users helping other Dell users. You need to keep calling or emailing Customer Service to handle your problem.

Since when do you have to enter a product key to prevent Dell installed MS software from 'expiring'? I've had this PC with MS Office SBE since Nov-04 and never needed to enter a product key.

As usual, Denny types faster than I do. :)

The Microsoft Online Activation requires the Product Key to activate the software online, or the preinstalled software expires. When it expires, you loose many of the features/function of the product. Without the CD, they don't have the Product Key sticker that comes on it. So software my customer paid Dell for will be worthless.

I've tried Dell Customer Support by phone and e-mail, Dell Technical Support by phone and e-mail, and still have not been able to get the CD shipped, even though Dell Customer phone Support promised it. They were later over ruled by:
US_ACS_REL_Outstanding_Issues [US_ACS_REL_Outstanding_Issues@dell.com] whoever these people are that will not respond beyond their canned e-mail saying that Dell can't give away free software.

I don't WANT free software. I just want Dell to ship the MS Office SBE software CD that my customer paid for.

They cruise, but not to respond, to MODERATE.

Hence, the name Moderator, huh?

So no Dell Tech Support, or Dell Customer Service, or Dell Employees, or anyone connected with Dell who can actually do anything cruise these Forums?

There never was any Tech Support or Customer Service employees on these forums.  There were more moderators, and forums that were Customer Care in nature, and they could have helped you.  But a month ago Dell decided to shut those forums.

So you can Chat (yes, I know you're a SB customer and you cannot), call, or email.  Or, take your business elsewhere.  Dell really isn't focusing on the single customer, they want businesses, and the level of support shows.
