Creating factory install disk....
I received my laptop as a Christmas present but I haven't been able to use it much until recently because of being in the hospital. The laptop didn't come with a factory install disk in case the hard drive dies or something else, so I've been trying to create a factory install disk.
I've tried several times, wasting several dvd-r disks, trying to create this disk. The Dell Backup and Recovery software keeps saying error, and quits the process. Gives no reason as to what the error was but I'm not wasting anymore disks, trying to get this to work.
Frankly, I've had nothing but problems with Windows 8 on this new laptop. It's very slow, like some old laptop that hadn't been defragged in years, with tons of viruses on it. I had an older Dell laptop I gave away cause I got this one, and it ran faster on windows7. I'd like to put Windows7 on this laptop.
Anyway, I don't know what to do from here and I always keep system backups in case something happens. This has really been frustrating. Is there anyway I can just get a factory install disk, or something?
Thanks in advance for the help,
Mike

"Lots of viruses on it"....what program told you this?
As far as the disc, they'll send you one, (or a key), since you're still under warranty. No one's at Dell today, tomorrow request it again in this thread.

The Dell Factory and Backup program says error then I kit ok and it says nothing else. The disks I've used to make the backup are wasted.
The laptops hardly been used since Christmas and now I'm able to use it more. A few year warranty was purchased with the laptop so I'd like to be able to have a recovery factory install in case something happens.
I've lost a lot of my hearing and voice so I can't call dell over the phone. I tried to go use the dell email support, but it said it wasn't available for my laptop. What's up with that! If someone from dell could help me, that would be great.
Thank you!
Mike
