DELL DATA SAFE

The "Create Recovery Media" pop-up keeps appearing in the lower right hand corner of my screen.  How do I stop it?

Thanks

Hi KVAUGHANS,

I would request you to please try these steps:

1. Wait for the message to pop up.

2. Open up 'Start Task manager' (Ctrl/Alt/Del)

3. Under the processes tab (should be defaulted to that) scroll all the way down or look for a file name

called "Toaster.exe *32". The description should say "Dell DataSafe Local Backup"

4. Right click the file name

5. You can either select "End Process" which will turn the message off until the next time you log back in to your laptop.

To permanently get rid of the message:

6. Select "Open File Location" instead of "End Process"

7. A new window will open and it should automatically highlight a file name called "Toaster"

8. Locate the file name "ToasterLauncher" which should be somewhere underneath the file "Toaster".

9. Right click the file and  "DELETE" [you can delete all the "Toaster..." files]

10. You will need to restart your system.

If this does not help, please reinstall using the Dell Data Safe Local back up I have given in the previous reply or remove the program if you do not wish to back up.

Kindly reply with the results.

Hi KVAUGHANS

Welcome to the Community.

Please disable Dell Date Safe from the Start Up items list. To do so, please click on Start and type msconfig in the search box. You will see a System Configuration Utility box opening on the desktop. Click on the Start up tab and Uncheck Dell Data Safe - Apply - Ok.  Restart the system.

After the system boots to windows, you will see the System Configuration utility promp. Kindly uncheck the only option so that this message does not appear everytime you restart the system.

Kindly reply with the results.

Hi KVAUGHANS,

Thank you for the reply.

I hope you have already tried the 'Do Not Remind Me' option on the same pop up. The complete message on the pop up will be more helpful for us before we try to reinstall Dell Data Safe Local back up.

You can also disable Dell Data Safe Local from services if you do not wish to use this program. (click on Start and type services.msc in the search box. Locate Dell Data Safe Local back up 2.0 and disable-apply-Ok)

Dell Date Safe Local back up will help you create recovery discs. However the system can be restored to factory settings without using the discs.

To reinstall Dell Date Safe Local back up: Uninstall from Programs and Features and restart the system.

Reinstall using this link: dslbdownload.datasafelocalbackup.com/dsldownload-en.html

Open this link and click on  the hyperlink below Easy Step 2 to install Dell Data Safe Local back up.

Restart the system after installation is complete.

Please reply with the results.

The message reads:

Create Recovery Media

In the event of a critical hardware failure, System Recovery Media is used to restore your system back to its original factory condition.

Please choose one of the following:

Create System Recovery Media Now (Recommended)

Remind me later

Dell Datasafe Local Backup              OK

If I hit Remind me later and OK, the pop-up goes away and the reappears in about five seconds.

If I hit Create Rec------------ and OK I get an installation tutorial.  The tutorail gives me the option of saving to a disc or ordering the Dell Datasafe Local Backup #300249654 online for USD 39.99.

I do not want to create a back up.

There is no Dell Data Safe Local in the Services search box.

Dell Data Safe 2.0 can create permanent Recovery Media onto a 16 Gig or Larger USB flash drive.

This media will essentially last forever and can even recover to a drive that is brand new aka Blank because a recovery USB flash drive is about $25 or less.   I would recommend buying a good USB 2.0 Flash media and using this media as recovery media.

I have the same problem, but unfortunately, my removable hard disk has been influenced. After I click "back up now(Recommended)" in the same window popped up, and then I chose "USB", so I plugged my removable hard disk in the USB. Suddenly, there is only one partition about 40 GB memory decreased from origin 500 GB memory in total. Also, the name appeared in "This PC" is "SYSRECOVERY" with a blue clock icon.  Can I get back all my files in my removable hard disk initially? And could you please tell me the steps to recover my removable hard disk? Thank you so much.

None of your solutions work, I don't have a removable disk, I can't create a backup, and since it sounds like the replies I do see are coming from India they don't seem to be of any use anyway.
