Dell Data Safe

After several weeks of ignoring an automated request to download an upgrade to Data Safe I accidently clicked OK.  The program went through a download and install routine, then the final message was a restart was required.  My Dell closed down and began a reboot, and stopped, I had to do a hard shutdown to get to a fresh boot screen but nothing worked.  Spend over two hours on line with Dell support and nothing they suggested helped.  The final sugggestion was to do a drive wipe and reinstall the OS.  No one offered an acceptable solution for recovering my data.  I tried a DOS Command Prompt for a copy routine and was able to copy my data files onto a WD My Passport drive, something the Dell tech should have known.

dogmusher,

Let me first Apologoze for the lack of service you received from Dell Support. The techs should should have provided the information to recover your files. The information is available. If the tech did not know where to locate the information for you he/she could have asked a Level 2 or Level 3 technician.

I am glad to hear you got your files. Again, I apologize for the unacceptable support.
