Dell DataSafe Local Backup reverts to Basic after Sleep

I have a strange problem.  I bought a new Dell XPS 8500, and noticed and used Dell Datasafe Local Backup, which comes with the pc, in it's "Basic" version.  I decided to upgrade to "Pro" to take advantage of the full system backup on an external hard drive feature that isn't available in the "basic" version.

This is what is happening:

  • Windows 7 goes to sleep, either through the sleep button or via the automatic timed method.
  • I wake up windows.
  • I start Dell DataSafe Local Backup.
  • The program starts, but is in the "basic" mode, same as when it was installed.
  • I restart my Windows..
  • Datasafe Local Backup is back in Pro mode.

Any suggestions on how to overcome this would be appreciated.  I already tried uninstalling Dell Datasafe Local Backup, going to the web site, getting the latest version, re-installing it,  and going to the "update.exe" program to manually update and patch it, and that didn't change the above behavior.

Note that a shutdown and re-start does not cause this issue, nor does restarting Windows, it's just when Windows goes into "sleep" mode and is "awakened"...something is happening then that affects Dell DataSafe Local Backup, removing, as it were, the information it must be checking to see if the upgrade was purchased.
