DVD/CD-ROM NEC ND-3530A Problem Writing with Roxio

I recently had to get Tech Support for an onsite visit (again!) to fix my CD-ROM reader and DVD Writer/Reader. The technician replaced both of these drives, but the one in question is the NEC ND-3530A DVD/+RW.

It isn't recognised as a writable DVD device with Roxio Easy CD and DV Creator V6 (which is my favourite DVD writing program). The previous DVD writer that was shipped with the system was recognised without problems as being writable (and don't shoot me if I'm wrong here - but it might have been an NEC 1200AD or similar).

I tried the Dell Support page in Australia and the latest firmware hasn't changed - but I re-flashed 103C anyway without any improvement.

Strangely, it is successfully recognised as writable for DVD+R in DVD Lab Pro 1.00 which uses a generic DVD writer.

How can I get my DVD writer to work under Roxio? No info is available on the Roxio site. Or do I need to call Tech Support AGAIN and get them to install another model of DVD writer?

Cheers
